Mini-game: Edward's Roulette
In this guide to Sea of Stars roulette on PC, we'll take a look at the mechanics of this mini-game.
When you reach Part 8: Port Town of Brisk, you'll have the chance to discover a mini-game called Edward's Roulette. This mini-game can be found in the town's tavern.
Edward's Roulette is a mechanical combat game in which you control 2 figurines, represented by heroes. You have a roulette wheel in front of you, which you must activate in order to receive symbols. Depending on the color of the symbol and the type of symbol displayed in front of you, you'll be able to accumulate energy to enable your figurines to attack your opponent, and vice versa. The aim is to inflict enough damage to bring your opponent's hit points to 0.
Default roulettes
Default roulettes are located underneath character figurines and inform you of their strengths and weaknesses.
Player's roulette
The wheel in front of you is the one you have to turn. The roulette wheel can be spun 3 times per round. What's more, you can block columns to keep the symbols you want. Accumulate the same symbols to receive charges and enable your figurines to attack your opponent.
Symbols on the player's roulette wheel
Square energy is for the figurine on the left, and diamond energy is for the figurine on the right. As mentioned above, you need to accumulate as many identical symbols as possible during the 3 turns, since these symbols (square or rhombus) enable the figurine to act. Energy is combined according to the "+ of three identical" rule (3=1, 4=2, 5=3, etc). You must have at least 3 identical symbols within 3 turns.
Walls are represented by the hammer symbol on the player's roulette wheel. When you accumulate these symbols on the roulette wheel, protective walls appear in front of you to shield your miniatures from enemy attacks. The rampart can be increased to resist up to 5 points of damage. It is combined according to the "+ of three identical" rule (3=1, 4=2, 5=3, etc). You must have at least 3 identical symbols during the 3 turns per round to have an effect.
Figurines evolve with EXP
When you turn squares with a dark blue background, these squares increase the EXP of your figurines (depending on the symbol). In this case, you don't need to have at least 3. Figurines automatically gain 2 EXP the moment they attack an opponent. They start at bronze rank and progress to silver and finally gold.
Bomb
If you fill a figurine's EXP bar, a bomb will appear in front of the opponent and inflict 2 damage, ignoring his rampart.
Heros
There are a total of 6 playable heroes:
- Warrior: Inflicts regular, moderately rapid damage. This hero can be easily blocked by the rampart.
- Mage: Attacks 2 times, the first fireball is at ground level while the second flies up to a height of 6 units and can therefore hit the opponent even if his rampart is at its maximum.
- Archers
- Engineer
- Assassin
- Priest
Collect them all for different attacks.
The first time you win at roulette in an easy game, you'll receive 10 gold coins.
