Assassination Classroom is a manga published by Kana, available as an anime on various streaming platforms such as Crunchyroll and Netflix. This manga features the students of class 3-E, whose aim is to assassinate their teacher Koro-sensei in order to save the Earth and win 10 billion yen. You don't need to know the manga to play this card game.
The card game comes in a yellow box in the colors of the manga. The box format is similar to other card games in the same collection, such as Naruto The ninja challenge! or Attack of the Titans: Battle of the Titans. The hard-bound box fits snugly in the hand and has a magnetic side opening. On the front of the box, you'll find an illustration of the manga, and on the back, a summary of the board game concept.
Inside, you'll find 50 cards including a game rules card, 5 Professor Koro cards and 44 3-E class student cards. The cards come in pairs, with the exception of Professor Koro's card, which is the one that can lose you the game.
Assassination Classroom: The Card Game is an accessible game, recommended for ages 6 and up. You don't need to know how to read, as the game is very easy to play and lasts around 15 minutes. The game is designed to be played by 2 to 8 players. It is possible to play with more, but it would be advisable to have a second copy of the card game.
To start a game, you need to deal all the cards to all the players. Each player must check their hand for pairs, and place them in front of the table to remove them from the game. These cards cannot be used again.
The player who starts is the last to leave school or the youngest. Each player, in turn, draws a card from his neighbor's deck to make as many pairs as possible. Eventually, you'll get Koro-Sensei cards. If you pick the orange version, you'll be able to draw a new card.
The purple version allows you to give him a card of his choice. The yellow version of Koro-Sensei is the one to watch out for, and must not be the last card in your hand, otherwise you'll lose the game.
Assassination Classroom: The Official Card Game is a great takeaway for group play. The rules are particularly simple and effective for introducing new players in less than a minute. Games last 15 minutes and are also suitable for playing on the move, ideal for filling in transitional moments while traveling.
