Pride

In this Final Fantasy XVI walkthrough, we'll explain the full path of the "Pride" quest from the Prologue.

After the cinematic, you'll be introduced to hand-to-hand combat with The Lord Commander. If you've already played the combat tutorial, you can skip this part of the story.

Attack the Lord Commander

To perform a melee attack, you'll need to use carré. Make a sequence of 4 attacks against your opponent twice to complete this objective.

Channel Your Inner Flame

Then use triangle to launch magic attacks, hitting your opponent 5 times. Clive's current magic is a fast fireball that you can throw as many times as you like with a delay between each shot.

Stay Quick on Your Feet

You'll then learn to dodge with R1, dodging 4 attacks. You can also perform a precision dodge just before your enemy attacks. This will slow down your opponent and allow you to counter them with an attack or magic.

Close the Gap

Now you'll learn the Eikon's Blessing, which you can use with rond to quickly close in on your opponent. You can also use melee or ranged attacks during a Phoenix Shift. Use Phoenix Shift three times to complete this section.

Mend Your Wounds

You can then use items from the main menu or directly from the quick menu at the bottom left using [ps4:dpad-top]. Use two potions to complete the objective.

Final Lesson

After this introduction to combat, you'll have to do a practice fight against The Lord Commander. After breaking his Will Gauge, you'll have the option of using the Rising Flames skill with R2+carré.

By winning the battle against The Lord Commander, you'll complete this FF16 quest and automatically move on to the next quest in the adventure.
