Percival Rackham's Trial
In this walkthrough for Hogwarts Legacy, we'll give you the complete tutorial for the main quest: Percival Rackham's Trial.
San Bakar tower
Join Professor Fig at San Bakar Tower, north of Hogsmeade. You'll then have to investigate the presence of the goblins. Professor Fig will suggest using the Disillusionment spell to camouflage you as you approach the tower. To avoid being spotted by the goblins.
You'll also learn a new game mechanic. Reaching an enemy without being detected allows you to launch Petrificus Totalus. This will permanently immobilize a weaker enemy or inflict considerable damage on a stronger one. All you have to do is use the Disillusionment Charm and the corresponding command.
- Remember to explore to open chests and collect gold coins.
Attack all enemies in your path and head for a small tent to find a letter from Ranrok on the desk. As you leave the tent, you'll be confronted by Assassins of the Faithful. Defeat them all and make your way to the door on the bridge on the opposite side of the tent. Professor Fig will unlock the door to let you through.
- Remember to explore to open chests and collect gold coins.
Search the tower and climb to the top to find the portrait of Percival Rackham. He'll ask you to find the entrance to the first trial to start it. Descend the stairs and head for the trace of ancient magic on the floor to examine it.
This will reveal a portal leading to the Percival Rackham trial. Enter the portal.
Percival Rackham's Trial
Once you've entered the portal, you'll see a door. You'll find yourself in a vast room. Go straight ahead and down the stairs. Examine it to reveal a long platform at the top of the stairs. Climb to the top and cross this platform. *Remember to explore to open the chests.
Continue straight ahead. Once on the other side, explore to open the chests. Then head for another trace of ancient magic and examine it. A new portal will appear.
Once on the other side of the portal, you'll face 1 Pensieve Protector and 2 Pensieve Sentinels. Defeat them all with your spells to progress.
Behind this room are floating platforms. Use the Accio spell to bring the first floating platform in front of you. This will allow you to board it and move on to the next platforms. Then head for the center of the room, shooting ahead. You'll then need to use Accio to pull your platform towards the right-hand side of the room. There you'll find another trace of ancient magic on the floor. Examine it. This will reveal another portal, allowing you to open a chest.
You'll also notice that the room seems to evolve as you enter and exit the portal. In fact, you now have additional rings that will allow you to cross the room from a greater distance.
Pull your floating platform towards the ring to the left of the portal and move to the next room. You'll come face to face with two more Pensieve Protectors. Once the enemies have been defeated, climb the steps to the right of the room, then pull the floating platform with Accio. On this floating platform, you'll find a trace of ancient magic, so climb up to examine it.
This action will reveal a portal in the center of the room. Step down from the floating platform and enter the portal that has just appeared. You'll notice that the room seems to have changed! In fact, the footbridge you've just crossed no longer exists in this portal. It's important to note that the disappearance of the footbridge will allow you to go back up the steps to another floating platform and reach a chest.
Once you've reached the chest, go back down, through the portal and up the stairs. Use Accio to draw the floating platform towards you, and use Accio again to pull yourself into the next room ahead.
Continue on your way, and you'll come to another large room where you'll have to fight 2 Pensieve Protectors and 5 more Pensieve Sentinels. Once the enemies have been defeated, go down the steps. You'll see another trace of ancient magic on the floor. Examine it to discover another portal in the center of the room.
Use the Accio spell to climb onto the floating platform and use this spell again to move around the room and open the chests at your disposal. Once back on the floating platform, pull yourself towards the portal. It's possible to use Accio on a ring and release Accio when you're lined up in front of the portal.
On the other side of the portal, you'll see another floating platform. Use the Accio spell to bring this platform to you. This will allow you to pass through the portal. Once through, you'll see more rings. Pull yourself towards the exit.
Once in the new room, climb the stairs and open the doors. Don't forget to open the chests nearby, as they may contain Wiggenweld potions for use in battle. When you reach a large round platform, you'll be faced with 2 Pensieve Protectors and 4 Pensieve Sentinels, all of which you'll need to attack to progress.
Lately, a huge Pensieve Guardian has appeared. You can perform dueling challenge by touching the Pensieve Guardian with ancient magic and destroying the orb as it charges. It's important to note that to destroy the orbs the enemy occasionally produces, you need to cast a spell of the corresponding color. This will inflict a large amount of damage. In addition, collect the orbs of ancient magic on the ground to increase your gauge, as your ancient magic attacks can also do a great deal of damage.
Once the Pensieve Guardian has been defeated, a new door will open. Head towards it. You'll see a Pensieve containing Percival Rackham's memories in front of you. Don't forget to explore to open some chests.
Interact with the Pensieve to see the memories. You'll see a cinematic in which Isidora Morganach is being trained by Professor Rackham. Isidora looks distraught and feels powerless in the face of her sick father. The memory changes to show Isidora Morganach as a teacher of defense against the forces of evil.
Once the cinematic has finished, head for the portal on the left of the room. It will take you back to The Map Chamber. You'll observe an interaction between the characters. Once the interaction is over, walk over to Charles Rookwood's portrait and have a chat with him. He'll tell you about the ancient magic points you can use to improve your own magic.
That's how the quest: Percival Rackham's Trial ends, giving way to your next main quest in Hogwarts Legacy: Beast Class. This will earn you the Hall Keeper trophy.
