Secrets of the Restricted Section

In this walkthrough for Hogwarts Legacy, we'll give you the complete tutorial for the main quest: Secrets of the Restricted Section.

Once you've learned the Incendio spell, head to Professor Fig's class. The professor suggests you visit the library restricted's section. However, as you speak, Principal Black interrupts your conversation. Professor Fig is forced to leave.

To progress, head for Sebastian Pallow and ask him to help you get into the library reserve to find something for Professor Fig on your own. 

Then meet Sebastian in the central night hall. Sebastian will inform you that you need to reach a door at the bottom of the stairs in order to access the library stockroom. However, you're surrounded by prefects watching over the corridor. To be more discreet, Sebastian will teach you the spell of Disillusionment, ideal for gaining access to places that are normally off-limits. This spell allows you to be partially invisible if you keep your distance and don't make too much noise.

• Don't hesitate to use the Accio spell on any flying pages you spot along the way. Catching these pages will increase your EXP level.

Use the Disillusionment spell and go down the stairs. Wait until the prefects guarding the corridor have their backs to the door and enter as quickly as possible. 

Continue on your way and discreetly enter the library, soon realizing that the librarian is still around. Quickly hide behind the shelves. 

You must then retrieve a key to access the library's storeroom. Sebastian will distract the librarian while you rummage around her office for the key. 

Once you've retrieved the key, enter the Library Reserve and go down the stairs. Once at the bottom, use your basic concealed casting (using the Disillusion spell) to lure authority figures and enemies to a specific location. This will allow you to distract the ghosts guarding the place so you can get to the room where the book you're looking for is located. 

• Don't hesitate to use the Revelio spell to find pages of the Wizard's Field Guide, treasures or other objects that are invisible to the naked eye.

Suddenly, you meet Peeves, who threatens to report you to the librarian. Sebastian volunteers to run after Peeves to stop him. Meanwhile, hurry on your way.

Use the Reparo spell to repair the armor on the floor, clearing the way for further progress. Then find the secret hidden in the Library Reserve by examining the glow on the floor.

Pass through the portal that has just appeared, it will take you into the Athenaeum. Go down the steps and open the large chest at the bottom left, before entering the Athenaeum. 

Move forward and use your basic throw (on the circle at the top of the passageway in front of you) to activate mechanisms to advance onto platforms.

Once on the other side, you'll face a battle against 4 Pensieve Sentinels. Use the corresponding controls to throw objects at them, and use your spells to attack and defend. 

You'll also learn how ancient magic works. Your ancient magic skills improve as you attack. Chains of more than 10 moves will generate ancient magic bonuses. When at least 1 of your ancient magic segments is full, use it to inflict massive damage.

Once you've defeated the 4 Pensieve Sentinels, continue on your way. You'll face 2 more Pensieve Sentinels who can attack you from a distance. Use your spells to attack and defend. 

• There's a hidden chest on the left. To access it, simply use your basic throw on the circle at the top left of the chest to activate the platform that will take you there.

Once you've defeated the other 2 Pensieve Sentinels, use your basic throw to activate the circle at the top of the passageway in front of you to activate the platform that will allow you to cross. But be careful! Run onto the platform and jump across both ends of the bridge, as the platform will disappear very quickly!

In the next room, repeat the steps, using your basic throw to activate the circle at the top of the passageway in front of you to activate the platform that will allow you to cross. This time, the platform is split in 2, so you'll have to cross halfway and activate the circle at the top of the passageway in front of you a second time to activate the 2nd part of the platform. Hurry up and jump when the platforms change!

• It will be possible to retrieve 2 treasures on the other side of the platform.

This time, you'll be confronted by several Pensieve Sentinels. Use the corresponding commands to throw objects at them, and use your spells to attack and defend. Don't forget to use your ancient magic if your ancient magic gauge is full to inflict even more damage. 

Once the fight is over, head to the antechamber to discover its secret. A cinematic appears in which you find yourself in another memory of Pensieve, where wizards from the past use their magic to bring water and vegetation to a starving village. You'll also learn about Isidora Morganach, who will be entering her 5th year at Hogwarts. 

On your way back to the library, you spy Sebastian, who has been spotted by the librarian. Fortunately, he kept it a secret that you were with him. And so the quest: Secrets of the Restricted Section comes to an end, making way for your next main quest in Hogwarts Legacy: Tomes and Tribulations.
