In the Shadow of the Mountain
In this walkthrough for Hogwarts Legacy, we'll give you the complete tutorial for the main quest: In the Shadow of the Mountain.
It's important to note that to access the quest: In the Shadow of the Mountain, you'll need to have completed the secondary quest: Professor Howin's Assignment to learn the Bombarda spell. This is the prerequisite for this main quest.
Learning Bombarda
To learn this spell, you'll need to complete several tasks:
- Get a Dirico with the capture bag.
- Get a Giant Purple Toad with the capture bag.
Once you've completed these tasks, attend the Magical Creatures course to learn the Bombarda spell.
In the Shadow of the Mountain
Meet Sebastian near the coast, north-west coast of Marunweem Lake. You'll need to pass through a mine to reach Sebastian on the other side, if you haven't activated a cheminette before.
Sebastian will inform you that Rannrok's followers have discovered another grotto which may conceal the third piece of the triptych. Continue up the winding road. Attack the enemies in your path with your spells. At the end of the fight, a cinematic appears in which you reproach Sebastian for not being careful enough.
Continue on your way and climb the mountain. You'll need to jump to reach the top platform if necessary. Attack the enemies along the way. When you reach another goblin camp, attack them all to progress. Another cinematic appears, in which you try to reason with Sebastian. Once the conversation is over, enter the cave tower tunnel.
Once inside, follow the path. You'll suddenly be attacked by thorny Pathfinders. To continue, attack the enemies and use the Repulso spell to clear the path of stones. Continue up the stairs. You'll come face to face with other Pathfinders, Matriarchs and Thorny Traps.
To open the door, you'll need to use your basic throw on the 3 nearby circles. The first 2 circles are on either side of the door. Then, the 3rd circle is just behind you (facing the door).
Enter and explore the cave to find extracts from Isidora's diary, gold coins and chests.
You'll face a Mountain Troll and several other enemies. Once all the enemies have been defeated, use the Reparo spell to rebuild the staircase on the right. Go up and into the corridor on the right.
You'll find yourself in a room. Use Wingardium Leviosa to lift a crate and place it vertically (to be as high as possible) to reach the upper platform.
Continue along this path and turn right twice. You'll come to a place where you'll find newspaper extracts, a chest and gold coins. To your left, you'll see a pile of stones blocking the path. Use the Repulso spell again to move forward.
You'll be facing a corridor. However, there's a gap, so you'll need to take a run-up before running and jumping to the other side of the platform.
You'll be facing a door. Once again, you'll need to activate the 3 circles with your basic throw. The first 2 circles are in front of the door, while the 3rd is to the left of the door (use the Repulso spell to remove the stones blocking the 3rd circle).
Enter to find another extract from Isidora's diary and climb the small wall to reach the top floor. Here you'll find the last part of the triptych canvas on the table. Then use the magic portal on your right to return to the crypt and place the last piece on the triptych.
A Pensieve will appear in the room. You'll see Isidora's memory and learn that Bragbor met Isisora. Once the souvenir is finished, a discussion with Sebastian will follow. And so the quest In the Shadow of the Mountain comes to an end, making way for your next main quest in Hogwarts Legacy: Lodgok's Loyalty.
