In this guide to Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch, we'll go over the Gadgets you can get from Russ's Study Lab.

In exchange for the materials (blue crystals) you pick up during your expeditions, you can trade them in for gadgets or items from Russ's Study Lab.

Here's a list of gadgets you can use to exchange for materials:

  • Survey drone: Use it to inspect the area = 10 materials
  • Charging Horn: Sends the Pikmins selected with X, or the whole group by pressing repeatedly = 20 materials
  • Treasure Gauge: This sensor detects any castaways or treasure nearby = 40 materials
  • Scorch Guard: This flame-resistant textile coating protects against the worst flames = 50 materials
  • Scorch Guard (for Oatchi): This flame-resistant textile coating protects Oatchi against the worst flames = 100 materials
  • Thermal Defense: The suit provides protection from the cold = 50 materials
  • Thermal Defense (for Oatchi): The suit provides protection from the cold for Oatchi = 100 materials
  • Headlamp+: This will help to see much better in the dark = 100 materials
  • Rush Boots: These boots will help you go faster = 120 materials
  • Idle Counter: This gadget will help you to know how many Pikmin are outside the squad and currently idle = 40 materials
  • Headlamp: This will help to see more in the dark = 30 materials
  • Idler's Alert: You will be able to summon the Pikmin without getting close to them = 80 materials
  • Brace Boots: This will allow you to dodge creature attack 
  • Triple Threat: The Triple Threat bestows the power of the triple punch to you = 40 materials
  • Lineup Trumpet: This is obtained by completing all musical treasures, this will allow you to control Pikmin to form a Line Swarm.
  • Treasure Gauge +: This better sensor detects any castaways or treasure nearby = 100 materials
  • Power Whistle: This will allow you to call Pikmin at a wider range = 120 materials
  • Plucking Whistle: This will pluck all the Pikmin available from the ground = 240 materials
  • Anti-Electrifier: Combination protects from electricity = 50 materials
  • Anti-Electrifier (for Oatchi): Combination protects Oatchi from electricity = 100 materials
  • Air Amor (for Oatchi): Armor protects Oatchi and reduces damage = 100 materials
  • Homesick Signal: Recalls Pikmin to the S.S. Shepherd ship. Works only on Pikmins not in your squad = 80 materials
  • Gunk Busters: These boots allow you to walk in places where the ground is sticky = 240 materials
  • Sniff saver: Poisons have no effect on Oatchi when he sniffs = 100 materials
  • Tuff Stuff: This makes you more resistant to enemy damage = 120 materials
  • Tuff Stuff (for Oatchi): This makes Oatchi more resistant to enemy damage = 120 materials
