Here's what you need to do to get started on Pikmin 4:

1. Take a good look at the map 
It's very important to look at the map before you start exploring, as this will give you an idea of where the treasures and cave entrances are located, for example. It also helps you avoid wasting time, as time flies in Pikmin.

2. Maximize your days by doing the caves last
Use most of the day to collect treasure and raw materials, fight enemies and save the caves for last, as time passes much more slowly inside the caves.
