Microsoft announces the closure of the Xbox 360 Store in 2024
August 17, 2023 - Microsoft officially announces the closure of the Xbox 360 Store in 2024. This closure is announced well in advance, as it will take place on July 29, 2024.
It is therefore possible to purchase games and DLC before this date. Thereafter, it will no longer be possible to purchase additional Xbox 360 games or content. In addition, the Microsoft Movies and TV application will also cease to function, and it will no longer be possible to view TV content and movies on the Xbox 360.
All games and DLC purchased before July 29, 2024 will continue to work if you have downloaded them beforehand. Certain games can also be downloaded on the Xbox 360 as well as on the Xbox One or Xbox Series if they are backward compatible.
As far as multiplayer games are concerned, you'll still be able to play games and connect with friends on the games you've purchased, as long as the publisher still supports online servers. You can still save your games and progress in the cloud, and if you choose to continue playing any of the games available on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, these cloud saves will be transferred.
