Event - May Day
Here's the guide to completing the May Day event, which runs from April 29 to May 7, 2022 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
May Day is a limited-time event (April 29 to May 7) that allows players to discover a new island and meet new characters. And there are plenty of surprises in store too. In this guide, you'll find tips to help you complete the maze and claim the prizes during this event.
There are many maze designs to choose from during May Day, so here are the steps and tips to help you get started, whatever your design.
Step 1: Claim the ticket
See Tom Nook at Resident Services to claim your ticket to the May Day event. Then head to the airport to use it.
* Please note that the ticket is only available between April 29 and May 7.
Step 2: Pick up the shovel
Once there, you'll face a large maze with empty pockets, as your inventory has been emptied before departure. All tools must be found or made in the maze. When you find yourself in front of a tool, grab the shovel - it'll come in very handy.
Step 3: Collect fruit, resources and tools from the ground
Use the shovel you've just picked up to dig through the bushes and clear the way. Pick up the fruit to lift the tree in front of you and break the rocks. Pick up the resources on the ground to make tools and complete the labyrinth.
* Use fruit mainly to break rocks, not to carry trees. Use fruit for trees only if you haven't yet obtained the axe or if you have no other choice. Give priority to the axe and the shovel for cutting and removing trees in the path.
Step 4: Complete the maze and talk to Rover
After collecting resources and bell tickets, building tools and clearing the way, head for the exit of the labyrinth to talk to Rover. Rover will reward you with a briefcase! Rover's briefcase will be sent to your mailbox the next day.
Step 5: Unlock the 5 bonus Bell tickets
After your conversation with Rover, head left and use your shovel to dig up the bushes in your path. When access is clear, use the passage outside the labyrinth. It will take you to the north of the map. It's important to note that you'll need to save 3 fruits in order to destroy the last 3 rocks and obtain the 5 bonus bells tickets.
As mentioned above, there are many maze designs to choose from during May Day, so here are a few tips to help you get started, no matter what design you have.
- Use fruit mainly to break rocks, not to carry trees. Use fruit for trees only if you haven't yet obtained the axe, or if you have no other choice. Prioritize the axe over the shovel for cutting down trees in the path.
- Make sure you keep 3 fruits in order to destroy the last 3 boulders and get the 5 bonus bells tickets. This part is located to the north of the labyrinth and can be accessed from the outside, to the left of Rover.
- If you find yourself stuck in the maze and have no way out, don't panic! Use your NookPhone to contact the Helpdesk, who will be able to help you out. This will cost you 100 Nook Miles.
- Each player can take part in the May Day event only once. However, if you want to do it a second time, you can choose the option of creating another character in Animal Crossing who will also have the chance to take part in the event (as if you want to play in multiplayer, the 2nd character will have his own house).
- Last but not least, not everything you collect on the island will be kept. Only the bells and the Rover reward will be sent to your mailbox. You can also sell the bells you've collected for 3,000 bells each at Nook's Cranny. We wish you good luck!
