How do you win mini-games with the villagers?
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can find yourself playing card games with your villagers. In this guide, you'll find all the information you need about playing cards in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
It's important to know that you can find yourself playing cards with villagers in a number of different situations. First of all, card games are very simple.
Card games #1: High card or low card
The game consists in guessing whether the number on the card (face down) is higher or lower than the first card drawn (face up). If you guess correctly, you'll receive a gift (clothing, object, furniture) or, in some cases, a new arrival will move into your village.
Card game #2: Guess the sign (hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades) or the color (black or red) of the card
The game consists in guessing the sign or color of the face-down card. If you guess correctly, you'll receive a gift (clothing, object, furniture) or, in some cases, a new arrival will move into your village.
Here are the different situations in which you may find yourself playing cards:
1. New visitor
The first situation in which you'll find yourself playing cards is when a new visitor appears in your village (living in the camp you've set up for visitors). In each game, you can have a maximum of 10 inhabitants in your village.
However, from time to time, a new villager may make a surprise visit. If you already have 10 inhabitants, you can still exchange them for 1 of your own! That's why camping is so useful. When you talk to the newcomer, at some point he or she will offer you a deck of cards that will determine whether the newcomer will move to your village and thus take the place of one of your inhabitants.
2. Villager that visit your home
Another situation where you'll find yourself playing cards is when a resident ends up in your home.
How to win?
First of all, it's important to understand that there's no magic bullet for winning, since there's no such thing as a 100% winning strategy. It's a game of chance.
HOWEVER, it is possible to play several times! All you have to do is chat with the newcomer until he or she offers to play cards again. Continue until you win. You may have to repeat the same steps several times.
Additional notes
- If you talk to the newcomer several times, they may decide on their own to contact Resident Assistance to move in!
- We also recommend restarting the game (if you lose at cards) and repeating the steps until you win at cards.
- It's important to know that if the newcomer moves into your village and you already have 10 villagers (maximum capacity), you'll have to evict 1 villager. If a villager you like is chosen and you wish to prevent his replacement, restart the game and repeat the steps until the new villager decides to replace the villager you wish to see leave (i.e. the villager you like least).
