How to meet Redd

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Redd is initially absent from the game. He only appears when the player brings 60 specimens to Blathers at the museum. In this guide, you'll find out all about Redd, one of the Animal Crossing characters.

After bringing 60 specimens to Blathers at the museum, the player will spot Redd strolling through his village. Walk up to him and talk to him. Redd will offer to buy a work of art for 498,000 bells. If you refuse, Redd will offer you a special price of 4,980 bells. Accept his offer, as the first work of art he sells you is always authentic. Once you've bought it, take it to Blathers at the museum. This will unlock the museum's art gallery.

Once you've completed the above step and unlocked the museum's art gallery, Redd will visit your island any day of the week between 5 a.m. and midnight, except weekends. 

Redd sells his items from his boat, called the "Treasure Trawler", which is located on the edge of your "secret" beach, normally to the north of your village. He normally sells 4 works of art (paintings and sculptures) and 2 pieces of furniture. You can buy 1 work of art each time he visits for 4,980 bells. WARNING! Additional Note

• Since the 2.0 update, you can build a store for Redd on Harv's Island for the sum of 100,000 bells. Redd will offer you 2 pieces of art (authentic or counterfeit). This means you can find Redd there on any day except the day he visits your village. This feature makes it easier to buy works of art, so you can fill your gallery more quickly.
