Reactions

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can use reactions to interact with your villagers! At the moment, there are a total of 55 reactions in this version. In this guide, learn how to unlock new reactions.

How do you unlock reactions?

1. Talk to the villagers, when a villager rushes up to you. Talk to them! They may be trying to teach you a new reaction.

2. Develop affinities with your villagers and vary their personalities. When you have a good level of affinity with certain villagers, they may show you new reactions. It's also a good idea to vary the personalities (versatile, sporty, smart, arrogant, lazy, vivacious, etc.) of your villagers to learn new reactions. 

3. Stretch with the villagers in front of the Resident Services Office. You must do the stretching activity as a group at least 50 times in order to receive a series of reactions related to this activity!

4. Nook Shopping reactions can be purchased using Nook Miles (machine in the Resident Services Office). 

5. Reactions (festival reactions) can also be purchased from the Nook Shop with bells during the month of February.

6. It is possible to unlock reactions during an event (i.e. Halloween).

How to select or remove in your reaction wheel?

• Press ZR to open the reaction wheel. 
• To add or remove a reaction, press X. 
• To record a reaction, press A.

How do I use reactions?

• Start by pressing ZR to open the reaction wheel.
• Select the desired reaction and press A.

How to view your reactions collection?

• Press ZR to open the reaction wheel. 
• Then press Y to access all the feedback you've collected so far.
• If you've collected a lot of feedback, press L or R to change pages.
• To observe a reaction, press Y. Press A to perform a desired reaction.

Additional notes

Miles Nook achievements can be unlocked by collecting reactions. In fact, when you unlock 1, 10, 20, 30, and 42 reactions, you'll receive a Miles Nook achievement.
