In the Shadow of the Mine

In this walkthrough for Hogwarts Legacy, we'll give you the complete tutorial for the main quest: In the Shadow of the Mine.

Meet Sebastian near the Belvedere, northeast of Upper Hogsfield. This is the place that appears to be painted on the triptych clue found during the game's main quest: In the Shadow of the Estate. 

Find the mine entrance. You can choose to be stealthy, using the Disillusion spell, or attack all enemies in your path. 

If you decide to enter by stealth, use the right-hand lane to avoid running into the Warriors of the Faithful. Continue to the mine entrance. To avoid a fight, there's a platform to the right of the entrance. Climb it using the wall and continue on your way by climbing over other walls. You'll find a small passage through which you'll have to crawl. At the end of the small passage, land on the ground in front of the entrance to the Belvedere Mine. 

Attack the enemies in your path and walk along the left-hand path. Slide down the slopes and continue on your way. Don't forget to open the chests along the way. 

When you reach an area with enemies, attack them all and use the Wingardium Leviosa spell to move the crate near the bottom of the wall so that you can climb to the platform at the top. *Be sure to place the crate vertically and not horizontally (see image), so that it can be used to climb higher. 

Continue straight ahead and slide down the slope. Climb the wall on your left and use the Repair spell to repair the bridge in front of you, then continue on your way. You'll suddenly come face to face with venomous Pathfinders.

Once the spiders have been defeated, continue along the left-hand path. You'll find yourself in a large area with many enemies. This time you have no choice but to fight. Use all your spells to defeat the enemies. 

Once the room is empty, use fire spells (Confringo, Incendio) to clear the circles with runic symbols from the spider webs. 

• The first circle is just to the right of the door.
• The 2nd circle is to the right of the first circle.
• The 3rd circle is at the top, and you'll need to move a crate using Wingardium Leviosa to climb to the top. 

Use your basic throw to quickly activate the 3 circles one after the other to unlock the door. Enter and explore the room to find an extract from Isidora's diary on the table and the second part of the triptych canvas in the chest. 

Discuss your findings with Sebastian and then use the magic passage to return to the crypt. Once you've arrived, head for the triptych and place the portrait you've found, and chat with Sebastian as he seems to know the location.
