How to find de Water Temple
In this walkthrough for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we'll give you the complete tutorial on how to find de Water Temple and begin the main quest: The Water Temple.
To progress through the story, you'll need to investigate with Sidon the Pillar of Light that has appeared on the dam lake to the east of the Zora Domain, to find clues that will help you find Princess Zelda.
Once you've completed the main quest: Clues to the Sky, head for Sidon in Mipha Court at the top of the Ploymous Mountain. When you arrive at Mipha Court, you'll see Sidon talking with his fiancée Yona. Recount your findings about the Pillar of Light that appeared on the dam lake.
Suddenly, a Sludge Like appears. You'll need to defeat it in order to progress. You will learn how to use Sidon's Power of Water to protect yourself from attack. Thanks to Sidon's Power of Water ability, you'll be able to shoot water at the enemy to attack, or to clear the sludge around you by pressing Y.
Overcome the Sludge Like
Use Sidon's Power of Water to remove the sludge around you. This will also give you more room to move and avoid the Like's projectiles. What's more, since the Like is covered in sludge, you'll need to use Sidon's Power of Water to first remove the sludge from the enemy before you can inflict damage. (It's also possible to remove the sludge by throwing a Splash Fruit or Chuchu Jelly).
Once the enemy has been released from the sludge (by throwing a Water Fruit, Chuchu Jelly or using Sidon's Power of Water ability), wait for the right moment when the Like opens its mouth to expose its vulnerable point in the center of the sludge (the purple bubble in the middle of its mouth) and hit the purple bubble with an arrow or by throwing a Flower Bomb or Fire Fruit. Take advantage of the moment when the purple bubble is on the ground to hit it as quickly as possible. After your attack, the Sludge Like will disappear into the ground and appear a little further away. Avoid its sludge projectiles and continue the process until its life bar runs out. Once the Sludge Like has been defeated, you'll receive a chest. Open it to receive a Royal Claymore.
Ancient Zora Waterworks
With Sidon by your side, head for the jet of light that appeared south of Mipha Court after you solved the riddle in the main quest: Clues to the Sky. To find out where the jet of light is located, take a look at the image below.
To get there, climb the slope at Mipha Court to the top. Move behind the fountain to meet someone. The jet of light will be visible from where you are. Jump down and use the Paraglider to head for Sidon, who is standing on a rock opposite the jet of light.
Talk to Sidon and he'll create a whirlpool in the center of the reservoir to create an entrance for you. Jump into the whirlpool and descend inside to be transported underwater.
Once inside the Ancient Zora Waterworks, walk up the steps and into the room. Open the chest on your left. Use Ultrahand to bring it to you and open it to receive a Zora Sword. You'll see rocks blocking a pipe on the right. Fire an arrow equipped with a Flower Bomb to unblock the pipe. You can also break the rocks by hitting them with a Broadsword Hammer (equipped with a rock). The water will flood the room, allowing you to reach the next floor. Move on to the next room.
Go down the steps and you'll see 3 pipes blocked by rocks (see picture below). Unblock them all to raise the water level. Start with the bottom-left pipe. Then move on to the top-right pipe, where you'll need to use wooden planks to climb over the rocks inside. Finally, for the third pipe up, climb the stone platforms to get to the third pipe. You'll notice that there's a gate blocking the way.
To get to the other side and unlock the 3rd pipe, the real pipe you want to head for is just below on the left. Jump inside and attack the enemies. Go to the gate and turn right. Attack the enemies on your way and turn left. You'll see several waterfalls. Use your Ascend ability to climb up. You'll arrive just in front of some rocks blocking the pipe. Break the stones to release the water and gain access to the altar in the middle.
To get out, simply take the ladder behind you to the right of the gate. You'll find yourself on the top floor, where there's a lever. Use your Ultrahand ability to move the lever and unlock the gate. Then jump to the altar and activate the magic circle to unlock the water bridge that will take you to the Great Sky Islands!
Equip yourself with the Zora Armor and jump into the waterfall to ascend. You'll arrive at Wellspring Island.
How to reach the Water Temple
Once you've reached Wellspring Island, go straight ahead and use the floating water bubbles to climb up. You'll find Sidon in front of a sludge chute.
You'll find that when you jump, you feel like you're floating in the air. This allows you to jump a little higher than usual.
To your left, you'll find a green machine that creates water bubbles. Stand in front of it and wait for a bubble to appear before climbing up. Once you've reached the top, head to the right and use another bubble to climb up. Then make your way to more bubbles and continue on your way.
You'll come to a platform with enemies. Attack them all and move on. You'll find a Hydrant, which you can move using Ultrahand ability to clear the surrounding sludge. You'll find a chest on a raised platform. Open it to receive a Hydrant. Continue removing the sludge with the Hydrant, then move to the edge of the platform and remove the sludge blocking the water on the structure (see image below). This action will release a waterfall that will allow you to project yourself higher.
Then jump to the waterfall you've just unlocked and project yourself towards other waterfalls to climb even higher. Head for the nearest Shrine. You'll find yourself in front of the Igoshone Shrine, complete it to be able to teleport there if necessary and to receive a Light of Blessing.
Then continue up the stairs to the Wing gliders on the ground. Using Ultrahand ability, place a Wing glider at the bottom of the bronze platform (see image below) and board it. Once ready, shoot an arrow at the orange cone to launch the glider.
Then head for the next platform (see image below) and attack the enemy. Then climb the waterfall on the left. Use the multiple waterfalls to climb even higher. At a certain point, you'll see a platform with 3 waterfalls. Head for it and attack the 3 enemies. Also open the chest to receive a Soldier III Blade.
Continue towards the platform on the right to climb to the top. At the top, stand in front of a water bubble and use the Recall ability to make the bubble carry you to the other side, then board the water bubble.
On the other side, using the Ultrahand ability, place a sloping rectangular platform so that the water bubble is projected from above, and board the bubble to climb up. When you reach the next platform, you'll find a chest on the floor covered in sludge. Throw a Splash Fruit or a Chuchu Jelly to access the chest and open it to receive an Opal.
Then use the nearby Wing gliders and Fans to build a flying machine and fly to the next and final platform. Here you'll find Sidon in front of several staircases. Climb the stairs and attack the enemy. Make sure you're constantly on the move to avoid his damaging attacks, and eliminate the enemy thanks to Sidon's Power of Water ability.
Once the enemy has been defeated, climb up and head for Sidon to the Water Temple.
