The Missing Jewel
In this solution to Detective Pikachu Returns, we'll take you through the entire first chapter: The Missing Jewel.
On your way to the Hi-hat Cafe, you'll be intercepted by Frank Holiday, Rime City's police inspector. He'll be asking for your help in solving a jewel robbery that has taken place at Denis Manor.
Before starting the investigation, you notice that Pikachu seems to want to chat with you. Just press bouton de droite to chat with him. Then head right towards the mansion. When you arrive in front of the mansion, you'll meet Brad McMaster and his Pokemon Manetric.
Meet Mr Denis
Once inside, meet Mr. Sanjeev Denis and his Pokemon Growlithe. Ask him questions to find out more about what happened.
Pikachu will then introduce you to the investigation Journal. This tool will enable you to collect all the clues you find, so that you can deduce more easily later on. Before you can start deducing, you'll need to inspect the mansion's premises.
Jewel Room upstairs
Climb the stairs on the left to reach the jewel room and head for the room on the right. This is where the robbery took place. In the jewel room, inspect these clues:
- Jewels still in the room
- The broken glass
- The glass lock (you'll notice it's still locked)
- Cotton pieces on the floor (you'll find a blue feather)
- The part of the glass cut out on the floor
Once you've recovered the clues, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce how the jewel was stolen?
- Choose the answer: The culprit cut open the the case and stole the jewel.
Next, you'll need to ask Mr Denis about the lock on the glass. Mr Denis will inform you that only he has the key to unlock the showcase. But both have access to the jewel room.
On leaving the Jewel Room, Pikachu observes feathers on the floor near the window on the right. Come closer to inspect. To progress, question the characters and Pokemon present in the mansion.
- Mr. Denis
- Growlithe
- Claudia Denis
- Clefable
- Larry Turner
- Mr. Barnes
Once you've interviewed all the characters, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce whether Mr. Barnes is the culprit?
- Choose your answer: Mr. Barnes may not be the culprit - he returned to the mansion after the crime had occured.
You'll have to leave the mansion. On your way out, you'll be introduced to Local Concerns. It will now be possible to complete side quests while solving cases.
Look for Ducklett
Then head to the Hi-Hat Cafe (to the left) to find clues leading to Ducklett. Talk to the characters and Pokemon present to find clues. You'll learn from Pablo Millan that a Ducklett has just left with a small bag.
Once you've collected the clues, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce where did Ducklett go?
- Choose one: She went to the Hi-Hat Cafe.
Look for the red Pokemon
Then head for the Serenity Park (to the right), where Whimsicott saw a red Pokémon. Move on to the small lake at the top and stand in front of the notched rock. To progress, look for the clues:
- Rocks with notches
- Whimsicott cottons on the ground (left)
- Torn leaves on the ground
Once you've collected the clues, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce where is the Red Pokémon?
- Choose the answer: Search near the rock.
The Pawniard will appear in front of you. Question him to find out more about the incident. Then return to the mansion to question the Pokémons. As you leave the park, you'll come face to face with Quiz Professor. She's part of the side quests, so all you have to do is answer her questions correctly.
Ask Growlithe for help
Return to the mansion and question the Pokémons to find out more about their skills:
- Growlithe (she can hear better than other Pokémon)
- Caninos (elle a un flair excellent)
- Manetric (he has a first-class sense of smell and can track, but he's busy)
Once you've collected the clues, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce How can we find Ducklett?
- Choose the answer: Let's ask Growlithe to track Ducklett's scent (since Manetric is busy).
Pikachu will be on Growlithe, and all you have to do is press R to spot scent trails. Follow the scent to a bush in Serenity Park. Ask Ducklett some questions, and he'll help you identify the blue feather found at the scene. The feather belongs to Larry Turner's Pokémon, Cramorant.
Return to the manor house and follow the Cramorant's scent. This will take you behind an alley. Ask the Cramorant and the Trubbish some questions. You'll find a new clue in the form of a handwritten note. The evidence clears Mr. Barnes. Find Tim to share what you've discovered.
Once you've recovered the clues, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce How can we prove that Barnes's innocence?
- Choose one: With the note, which was written by someone other than Barnes.
Pikachu will then ask you a question: If Growlithe is to be believed, when did the key disappear?
- Choose the answer: When she was sleeping.
Pikachu will then ask you another question: Can't you see a funny common thread in all their testimonies?
- Choose the answer: They all had breakfast.
Look in Growlithe's food bowl for traces of Dodo powder. Once you've recovered the clues, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce Why did the Pokémon in the mansion fall asleep?
- Choose the answer: Sleep powder was mixed into their breakfast.
With Growlithe's help, find the source of the Sleep powder, the scent traces of which will lead you to Serenity Park. Talk to Venonat, who will tell you that the powder comes from Lilligant in one of the nearby hedges. To find it, just observe the bushes on the left. Talk to Lilligant, who tells you that a human has come to see her dance.
Find the culprit
Then return to the mansion to collect evidence at the mansion. Talk to these characters:
- Mr. Denis
- Larry Turner
- Claudia Denis
- Mr. Barnes
Once you've collected the clues, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce who could have slipped the Pokémon sleep powder?
- Choose the answer: Larry Turner.
Now you know what, where, who and how the jewel theft took place, all that remains is to find the jewel. To do so, return to the Back alley and have a chat with Cramorant, who had a strangely full belly the last time you spoke.
Once you've recovered the clues, open your investigation jounal and try to deduce Where is the stolen jewel?
- Choose one: It`s inside Cramorant's belly.
You've solved the case. Return to the manor to inform the others of your findings.
Tell others about your discovery
