How to find the Lighting Temple
In this walkthrough for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we'll give you the complete tutorial for the main quest: The Lighting Temple.
Before progressing any further in the story, don't forget to stop by Gerudo Town. Visit Padda once again to pick up the resources you didn't collect during the battle with the Gibdo. Don't forget to visit the Gerudo Town underground bunker to unlock missions, including the Monument of Seven Heroines and more.
- It's also important to know that temperatures vary greatly, so be well-equipped or prepare dishes that will give you cold AND hot resistance to be able to eat them as needed!
Once you're ready, you and Riju will have to investigate the wall inside the Gerudo underground to find clues to Zelda's whereabouts. In fact, according to Riju, the wall is a clue to a riddle that reveals the way to The Lighting Temple.
First Pillar (coordinates: -4047, -3147, 0062)
According to the riddle, in order to discover the path to The Lighting Temple, you need to connect 3 pillars with a jet of light. To find the very first structure, head for the throne room. To do this, simply use Ascend if you're in the Gerudo Town underground bunker. Move behind the throne and past the structure that hides the landscape. You'll see a large structure with 3 pillars in the distance. You'll need to get to this structure first.
Before heading for the 3-pillar structure, use your Ascend ability twice to climb up. You'll find yourself in front of the Soryotanog Shrine, as it's right on top of you! Complete this temple to be able to teleport there if necessary and receive a Light of Blessing.
Head for the 3-pillar structure in the distance. Once in front of the pillar, use your Ascend ability to climb up. Once at the top, you'll see a stone circle at the center of the 3 pillars. Use the appropriate weapon (Broadsword Hammer) to break the stone circle by jumping with X and striking the stone with Y. This will release a jet of light into the sky.
Second Pillar (coordinates: -4536, -3278, 0033)
Follow the direction of the jet of light to find the second pillar. Use the sand tornadoes to lift yourself into the sky for a better view. What's more, tornadoes allow you to move forward much more quickly.
When you reach the second pillar, you'll notice that there's only a mirror and nothing else. In fact, you need to head for a nearby pillar (visible from where you're standing). This pillar is located at coordinates: -4591, -3278, 0046. Simply turn the wheel counter-clockwise to lift the pillar, allowing the light to reflect off the second pillar.
Third Pillar (coordinates: -4173, -3637, 0076)
Then head for the third and final pillar. Use the tornadoes to your advantage to get a better view and know which direction you're heading.
When you reach the third pillar, you'll notice that it too has a stone circle in the middle that can be broken, but this time you'll find Zonai platforms and wooden planks. Using your Ascend ability to go to the top of the pillar, you'll find another wheel, but this one is broken. To repair it, you'll need to assemble the wooden planks using the Zonai platforms and then glue them (using Ultrahand ability) to the wheel, enabling you to turn the wheel.
To do this, glue the wooden planks to the Zonai platform and hit the platform to activate the Energy Cell and allow it to float in the air. Then place the platform high in the air, so you'll be able to pick it up when you reach the top of the pillar.
Once at the top, glue the wooden planks to the wheel to create a lever that you can turn. Then turn the wheel counter-clockwise to lift the pillar, allowing the light to reflect off the third pillar.
The jets of light are now linked between the 3 pillars, forming a triangle. Head into the middle of this new triangle using the sand tornadoes to discover The Lighting Temple.
- Before heading for the center of the triangle, you can also complete the Irasak Shrine, visible from the top of the third pillar. We recommend you complete this temple to be able to teleport there if necessary, and to collect a Light of Blessing.
