Mission 1: Rescue the Rescue Corps

In this guide to the main quests in Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch, we'll review the first mission, which is: Rescue the Rescue Corps.

Following the tutorial, you'll be dropped off in an unknown location. Move towards the yellow species in front of you. This is Oatchi, the rescue dog who is part of the crew. He's the first person you've rescued from the crew. The other 6 rescuers remain to be found.

Approach Oatchi, who seems to be indicating that another rescuer is on the other side of the plant in front of you. Press B to whistle and then press A to order Oatchi to shoot the plant. You'll discover Collin, another member of the rescue team.

Collin will then give you a tablet that will allow you to keep track of all the missions in progress, as well as other applications that will come in handy during the adventure.

Keep going straight ahead and you'll see the S.S. Shepherd in the distance. Go right to continue along the path. You'll come to a tunnel that appears to lead to the ship. To reach the tunnel, you'll need to dig up another tunnel hidden beneath the earth nearby.

Press A to tell Oatchi to dig up the tunnel and enter. You'll arrive at the first underground level - 1. Oatchi seems to have detected a member nearby. Explore the underground tunnel to find him.

Climb to the left to face the captain, who's clinging to a tree trunk and surrounded by enemies. Attack the enemies to save Captain Shepherd. You'll also discover the rescue guide, located in your tablet. To exit the underground passage, simply break the pots of mud. Move forward to the beam to return to the surface.

Then approach the S.S. Shepherd ship, which appears to be on fire. Collin repairs the ship, but notices that there's no energy left to restart it. He'll ask you to look for treasures containing Sparklium, which will enable the ship to be restarted.
